Your Graphics Leader
      CORELDRAW GUIDE
The Graphics Department uses CoreIDRAW! version 8.0 (MAC). The following guidelines are designed to help you set up your file so that there will be as few delays and problems as possible in the production of your job.

AT WHAT SIZE SHOULD MY IMAGE BE SET UP?
Your file may be set up at any size as long as it is to scale with the final image size. Please indicate crop marks.

WHAT COLORS CAN I USE IN MY LAYOUT?
For Digital Inkjet prints, please indicate any critical color matches by specifying a Pantone Process or PMS color that you would like to have matched. It is recommended that you use the Pantone Process Color Chart because it is compiled of CMYK colors, and will give you a better representation of what colors the printer will print. The Graphics Department can, however, match a great deal of Pantone PMS colors. It is important to remember that the colors you see on our screen will not be exactly what we see on our screen or what our printers will print. It is because of this that the Graphics Department recommends that you specify a Pantone Process or PMS color if you want the colors to be matched. For Lambda prints, please set up all of your graphics using the RGB color mode, as this is what Lambda prints. Any time that a bitmap file is set up using the CMYK color mode or is scanned in as a CMYK image, but is intended to be used for a Lambda print, the file must be converted to RGB. This will cause a color shift within the file that may be very' noticeable. Using the RGB color mode when initially creating your graphics will give you a much closer representation of what the final output will look like. For all vector art files, please use the color chart to help you choose the colors for your graphics. This color chart is a guide for matching colors to the Pantone Matching System and will enable you to see what the PMS color will look like when it is printed by the Lambda. Using these colors will also allow you to set up your files that there will not be any color matching charges. To achieve any of the colors on the chart, set up your file using the specified numbers that correspond to the colors you have chosen.

CAN I USE THE FILLS AND TEXTURES THAT COME WITH COREL?
If your images will be produced at a final size larger than 8.5" tall, do not use any of the Corel pattern fills, textures. or photos. These images are not intended for large format printing and are very low res. Because of this, the images will be pixilated when they are printed larger than 8.5" high.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT FONTS?
To avoid any problems with fonts, all text should be converted to outlines. To do this, choose "select all" from the edit menu and then select the command convert to curves" from the arrange menu.

WHAT DO I NEED TO SEND IF I HAVE A PLACED IMAGE IN MY DOCUMENT?
If your CorelDraw! Document has placed images (logos and/or photos) in it, make sure that the original logo file or photo file is included on the disk.

HOW SHOULD I SAVE MY FILE?
Please export your Corel Draw! File as either an Illustrate file or and EPS file (convert the fonts to curves when exporting with either of these formats).

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO SEND?
Please make sure your disk contains both the screen and the printer fonts. Along with your disk, also send hardcopy of all files that the Graphics Department will be producing and a printout of the contents of the disk, marking the files that will be used.
